Temperatures are plummeting and where is a better place to warm up than in the Movie Theaters? Right now there are very many great films out that I suggest you all go out and see.
Now with there being so many great films, it sort of creates an inner conflict for old Nathan here. As a new movie critic to Springfield, I have become aware to the pressure of credibility... I hear the same questions daily...
- "Who is this guy!?"
- "What does he know about movies?"
- "Just because he is 8 feet tall, does that mean he knows what good movies are?"
To answer your questions:
- My name is Nathan and I am an on air talent member of KRBK
- A good amount, movies are my favorite thing in the world and I took several film classes at Missouri State University, where I attended College and graduated
- Heck Yes!
Now if you have been watching my At the Movies pieces on KRBK you know about the Star Rating system we use here on KRBK. I thought I would take the time to go into more detail on my rating scale. So next time you see Nathan give a 3 star rating, you will know exactly what I mean.
The Near Perfect Film - Guaranteed to go down as one of the greatest of all-time. Transcendent, Unlike anything I have ever seen before. Obviously, not very many films will recieve this rating.
Recent 5-star Movies= American Beauty, Magnolia, The Godfather
A Great Movie- Although not near perfect, a wonderful cinematic achievement. Great acting, solid screenwriting and a really original and intriguing story. A movie that makes you feel something and you know will stick with you.
Recent 4+star Movies= Inception, The Social Network, 127 Hours
Just Good- Better than average. One element of the movie made it stick out and worth your $8 dollars. Most movies can fall into this category. Something about it really sticks with you and you like but something was missing that made it great.
Recent 3+star Movies= Harry Potter 7, Machete, Morning Glory
Slightly Disappointing- A film that doesn't meet the expectations it set for itself. There is nothing worse than expecting a great performance, or amazing storyline and getting the same old cliche and mailed in performance you get from a Scary Movie spinoff... No good
Recent 2+star Movies= Due Date, Predators, Dinner for Schmucks
The Worst- The truth of the matter is, it is quite the amazing accomplishment to make a terrible film in Hollywood. The amount of effort that goes into creating a film is outrageous and for people to put forward the time to create something that has no hint of acting talent, a cohesive story, or really anything good at all they know is crazy. However, there are movies that are awful, most of them star Jennifer Lopez, or a Wayans Brother, or Paul Walker.
Recent 1 star Movies= The Last Airbender, Vampires Suck
Now as I must always say, this is just my opinion. If you agree or disagree, this blog is an amazing opportunity to open up conversation and you to let me know what you think. Until next time, Thanks for reading and comment me!

127 Hours- 4 stars
