First Day O Sundance

Well, I made it! And all I have to say is Utah is a most beautiful state. I have spent my entire life growing up in Missouri. I have done my fair share of traveling, but to places like California, New York City, and several different islands. Flying into the Mountainous state of Utah and driving through the streets is really something new and amazing to me.

But anyways, we arrived in Salt Lake City early this morning and have been running around ever since. I had the amazing opportunity to be in a room with Founder and Chairperson of the Festival Robert Redford. He still looks amazing in his 70s and looks like he could probably kick my butt. Tonight's opening film is called Project Nim, it is a documentary about a chimpanzee in the 1970s that researchers attempted to teach how to communicate using Sign Language. It sounds extremely interesting and I hope to get a chance to check it out while I am here.

Dinner tonight was quite the experience. We stopped at a little diner called "Dairy Keen,"
nope, not Dairy Queen, or even Dairy King, Dairy Keen. It's motto was home of the train. It had several trains rolling around on the ceiling and even one that transported to Hogwarts. The catch was the entire restaurant was Hawaiaan themed. It went really well the mountain painted walls, and menu selection of burgers (The "train burger" had slices of ham, melted swiss, beef patty and a secret sauce... HEALTHY) and shakes... I don't get it...

My cameraman, Eli Cunningham, and I are about to head to the Opening reception and maybe do some stargazing... who knows. Tomorrow I will try to give you all a video update. Talk to you soon.
