Oscar Reactions

If you remember my Oscar picks blog I talked about how much I love the Oscars. How I look forward to it every year and it is one of the highlights of it.

Well Anne Hathaway and James Franco, congratulations! You managed to bore the hell out of me on my favorite night of the year. Here are bullet points of my thoughts of the Oscars.

- Melissa Leo, thank you for providing the only F bomb of the night. It was the most awkward and uncomfortable of all the speeches. But boy was I entertained. The face she made after dropping the bomb was hilarious. I am surprised she didn't say "Oh Sh**."

- Kirk Douglas, you are awesome and really old. I would have enjoyed the show much more if you were hosting and they had subtitles.

- Christian Bale, How do you forget the name of your wife? Especially if she looks like that! But congrats, and thank goodness Kanye West didn't interrupt your speech to say Beyonce deserved it. I couldn't imagine what you would have said to him, and the number of "Melissa Leos" you would have dropped.

- Gwyneth Paltrow- Stick to Acting... Please!

- My biggest disappointment of the night, besides Franco (who I will talk about soon), was David Fincher not winning Best Director. Fincher > British guy.

- My favorite speech was from the guy who wrote The King's Speech. David Seidler, who as a kid was a stutterer won his first Oscar last night at the age of 73.
After watching his speech, I kind of began to wonder if he wrote The King's Speech from personal experience.

- Mila Kunis you are so pretty it hurts me.

- I am sad that nothing was said about Banksy, except for Timberlake making jokes that fell super flat.

- Colin Firth looks like the nicest guy in Hollywood. Aaron Sorkin looks like the biggest douche in Hollywood.

- Whoever I marry, PLEASE can they age like Helen Mirren?

- Anne Hathaway... you tried really hard... Like really hard to be funny! She reminded me of that character you see in all of the high school movies that is hosting the big end of the year party. She is super peppy and trying really hard to make sure everyone is having fun, but in the end it all goes wrong when the one stoner guy (James Franco) shows up and destroys the house.

- James Franco... I am a fan of your work. In 127 Hours you were outstanding. In Freaks and Geeks you were just as great. But, what were you doing? It was like this half-interested, obviously reading the prompter, super stoned kind of persona thing you gave off. I think Bob Hope tried that one year and it didn't work.

- Billy Crystal, please host the Oscars every year until you die. It is your show.

- I am happy Natalie Portman won. Although I am sad for Annette Bening.

- Still mad about Fincher.

- Do you notice how the band gives preference to the big time categories and cuts off designers and "lesser categories" after 15 seconds? This should bother me, but it doesn't.

- The guy with the afro was awesome.

- I wish I was related to Tom Hanks.

- Robert Downey Jr. is funnier than most actors, especially Jude Law.

- Super weird things I can say now:
Oscar Winning Film "The Wolfman"
Two time Academy Award Winner "Alice in Wonderland"
Nine Inch Nails guy has won an Oscar
I have seen James Franco dress up like Marilyn Monroe

- I felt really bad for Hugh Jackman when Anne Hathaway was singing about him dropping out of their song. It was a little uncomfortable. Almost like watching a bitter confessional of Jersey Shore.

- The King's Speech was a great movie and deserved to win. I was a little bummed about the predictability of the Oscars. Besides the Best Director category there were very few upsets. Had Social Network won Best Picture I think the Oscars would have been a little more memorable. But Speech is still very deserving.

- Props to KSPR's weather man for knowing that Tornados shouldn't interrupt Oscar broadcasts... ever!

- I would like to congratulate Matt Tassel, who is the winner of our KRBK prize pack. He got 16 of the 24 awards right. Which so happened to tie the exact number I got right.

- One contestant e-mailed me saying he was going against everything I said and wound up getting 7. Good job Dan!

- Well I think I touched on most of the highlights of the show. I hope you all enjoyed the show much more than I did.
