Mix Tape Wednesday! And Spiderman!

Happy Hump Day!

I told myself before I started writing this blog I would refuse to make any Charlie Sheen jokes. It seems every where you turn someone is yelling "Winning!" or talking about "Tiger Blood." So instead I want to joke about the second biggest non-important headline in the news, The Spiderman Musical. For some reason Spiderman: Turn Off the Dark has become a media sensation over the past few months. Which can be quite confusing because after all it is a Broadway musical. So why is everyone talking about it? Very simple! We love watching $60 million dollar projects fail miserably.

So why does this show suck beyond belief? I think it is simple. It was a terrible idea in the first place. Follow this logic... A story about a man who is bit by a spider then develops the capacity for super human strength and the ability to swing from giant skyscrapers all over the New York City skyline. Then this man, let's call him Spider Man encounters evil villians with superhuman strengths and their battles include sharp objects, giant explosions and destroyed scenery. Sounds great, lets put it inside a Theatre on a small stage in front of hundreds of people...? While you are at it, you should consider these musicals:

1) Fast and the Furious: Turn Off the Car
2) 3 Ninjas : The Musical
3) A Night With Michael Bay: Bay's Best Expressed through Song
4) Top Gun: The Musical (Score written by Journey)

These all sound like terrible ideas! But the truth is it is just as at terrible a concept as Spiderman. Apparently they have fired the director and are planning massive rewrites and reworkings. Only time will tell.

Ok, it's that time again. Mix Tape Wednesday. No theme today just Music I like. Enjoy!

5) Stars- Your Ex-Lover is Dead

6) The Postal Service- District Sleeps Alone Tonight

7) Local Natives- Wide Eyes

8) The Avett Brothers- I and Love and You
