This statement has gotten me into many arguments. For those of you who may not recognize his name, Snyder has done the films Dawn of the Dead, Watchmen, and 300.
Now, most testostorone pumping, Hurley hat-tilted Bros are quick to yell "You suck man, 300 is the best movie ever... AH!" as they yell this as their veins in their head pop and their muscles clench in their Affliction t-shirts. Well, to them I say, "No! 300 is NOT a good movie!"
300 is nothing but blood, boobs and more blood for 2 hours.
It is not a good movie... It is an awesome movie.
I can absolutely gurantee you that not one person left the theater after seeing 300 saying, "Wow, what a good movie. It made me feel so much and I really grew as a person."
The only thing that 300 made me feel was the urge to run in front of oncoming traffic and/or to take out the guy selling concessions with a spear.
Zach Snyder does movies that are visually spectacular BUT he is a Man's man. So he doesn't waste his time with silly weak things like plot and character progression and feelings. Why waste 30 minute developing relationships when you can stretch a 10 minute fight scene into a 30 minute slow motion fight scene!? To quote Charlie Sheen, Zach Snyder is winning!
Ok, I hope you can see I am sarcastic. I will admit, I am a big fan of Snyder's movies. But I expect nothing out of them. I watch his films with the same expectations I watch Jersey Shore. I will laugh, I will be entertained, I won't half to use a single ounce of energy thinking and I will probably be dumber by the end of it.
This weekend, Snyder's new film Sucker Punch comes out and I have a feeling this may be his biggest mess yet. Watch the trailer and just try to figure out what it is about:

So OBVIOUSLY this movie will be awesome! But the plot seems to appear to be about a girl who goes into a mental instituition but wants to survive so then she enters a fantasy world where she can defeat creatures and then be free.... OK!
Umm... So in one sentence?
Crazy girl imagines a Crazy world where she Crazy fight to escape from Crazy house! GENIUS! I can't wait!

Umm... I used up all my smarmy, sarcastic comments on Sucker Punch so I will let this film get a free pass. If you are 8 years old, or have the sense of humor of an 8 year old you should go see this movie.

Over the next three weeks each and everyone of you should try and make it out to the Vandivort to see this hilarious show about people's first times... Yep. That first time. The hilarious script is being put on by an extremely talented cast and wonderful director, Chelsea Russell, who is WAY better than Zach Snyder. The show premieres tomorrow, March 25 and runs until April 9. You won't regret seeing this show!
