It's Friday, Friday, Gotta get down... Yep, that song is in my head constantly too.
This whole Rebecca Black "Friday" thing is fascinating. At last check, she was just a few hits shy of 79 million... Yes, 79 million hits.
Let's put that in perspective- The population of the United States is 307 million. That means 1 in 4 Americans might have seen this incredibly thoughtful written song...
These Countries have fewer than 79 million people living in them:
Iran
Turkey
France
Italy
Canada
United Kingdom
Spain
Etc...
So this can only mean one thing... Rebecca Black is taking over the world. Or at least she has the power to.
TO be honest I think she is getting a bad wrap. Yes the lyrics, singing, video and dancing are all awful. But she is just a 13 year old girl livin the dream.
AND while we are at it if you are going to talk about what a terribly written song Friday is I would like to you to look up the lyrics to these songs:
"Firework" by Katy Perry
"Lips of An Angel" by Hinder
"Whip My Hair" by Willow Smith
Any Brittany Spears song
55% of all Hip-Hop songs
AND SO MUCH MORE
SO Rebecca Black, you are A-OK in my book. So young girl enjoy your bowl of cereal, I hope you pick the right seat and no matter what people say, you are right, you gotta get down on Friday!
ALRIGHTY,
Now to preview what movies are coming out this weekend:
Source Code- This is a movie I have been anticipating for months. Duncan Jones, director of Moon and son of David Bowie, makes his second directorial feature with this Sci-Fi thriller. Jake Gyllenhaal stars as a former military captain sent on a rather alternative mission to stop a terrorist attack.
Early Expectations- I am a very big fan of Gyllenhaal, so big a fan that I actually spelled his name right on my first try. The premise of the film looks extremely inventive and entertaining. I was a very big fan of Duncan Jone's first film Moon and I feel like this may be even bettter.
Hop- This is a film about a down on his luck unemployed slacker played by James Marsden, who accidentely injures the Easter bunny and must nurse him back to health. Groundbreaking.
Early Expectations- Well I guess it is time for an Easter movie and who better to voice the Easter Bunny then... Russell Brand!?!? I never envisioned the Easter bunny as an alcoholic british guy. But whatever. I am sure the kids will love it.
Insidious- Creepy! A family moves into an ancient house and when their son experience and accident CRAZY stuff goes down.
Early Expectations- There are fewer things that I hate than a REALLY bad scary movie, WHILE, there are fewer things I love than a REALLY good scary movie and there are a LOT more bad then good. The cast makes me think that this film has a chance. I am hoping it is good.
Enjoy your weekend everyone!
